@paul@oldfriends.live#TrueStory. We went to see teen wolf movie. Her grandfather threatened no funny business. During the movie I went to hold her hand. It was dark. My hand missed her hand & went to her knee. I got punched & bad black eye. On the way home, we hit a deer. Had to go to highway patrol office where, after the report was taken, I backed out, hit the gas too hard, hit a wooden light pole which fell on picnic table full of cops where shift change was happening.

part 2/ The car was a my brothers mid-1970ish Chrysler Cordoba. Little damage to the car from the deer. It was a tall, electric type telephone pole that the light was on that I hit. Went down in the middle of the concrete picnic table. Cops were jumping off the benches like popping popcorn to get out the way. Cop said I had a bad enough day & they let me go. It was late August 1985. My brother and I just talked about this the other day. lol. We never went on another date.
part 3/ I watched that pole fall in slow motion. It was awful feeling. lol. The backend had damage from hitting the pole. Trunk never closed right again. My brother still holds a grudge. We hashed that out last week, again, almost 40 yrs later
Her grandfather was nice about it. Cops called and let them know why we were so late
Her grandfather and I ended up being good fishing buddies. Even went on fishing trips with him
We never dated again. She went into law enforcement after high school
part 4 of 4/ Conclusion: Come to think about it. Since her grandfather ended up being such a good fishing buddy, maybe it wasn't such a #TerribleFirstDate after all.
